Training in Weimar - Masterplan for City Development in Slemani From March to April 2008, the Master Plan Team of the municipality of Slemani has completed a post-graduate course in Weimar for the preparation of city development. The engineers and architects - four women and six men - received preparation for carrying out the master plan in the coming years. They used the opportunity to become prepared for the integral challenges of this specific job and integrate individual ideas and desires by bringing these aspects into the planning concept. The urban area of the city of Slemani has grown 61% from 2002 to 2006. In the meantime a German planning office has been acquired to make a master plan for city and regional planning. The ultimate goal is to develop the city in sustainable and environmentally concerned ways while retaining the population's acceptance. This includes, among other things, public transit planning, water and energy deliver, waste management, landscaping, expansion of tourism and retention of architectural heritage. Carried out by KNOTEN WEIMAR, in cooperation with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
