Training in Weimar -
Masterplan for City Development in Slemani
From March to April 2008, the Master Plan Team of the municipality of Slemani has completed a post-graduate course in Weimar for the preparation of city development. The engineers and architects - four women and six men - received preparation for carrying out the master plan in the coming years. They used the opportunity to become prepared for the integral challenges of this specific job and integrate individual ideas and desires by bringing these aspects into the planning concept. The urban area of the city of Slemani has grown 61% from 2002 to 2006. In the meantime a German planning office has been acquired to make a master plan for city and regional planning. The ultimate goal is to develop the city in sustainable and environmentally concerned ways while retaining the population's acceptance. This includes, among other things, public transit planning, water and energy deliver, waste management, landscaping, expansion of tourism and retention of architectural heritage. Carried out by KNOTEN WEIMAR, in cooperation with Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Closing the Cycle for Quality of Life
Soil, water, energy. Resources are dwindling, risks are increasing. Environmental protection is becoming a question of survival. Intelligent waste treatment prevents consequental damage and regains resources. Disposal assures supply. Decontamination of the environment saves habitats. KNOTEN WEIMAR stands for closed loop recycling management.

World-wide Network
In environmental protection there are many actors: Politicians pass environmental laws. Local authorities look for disposal solutions. Firms develop new markets for their established technology. Decision-makers need expert and industry information. Operational personnel has to be optimally trained. KNOTEN WEIMAR brings the appropriate partners together, in transfer and educational projects. We combine needs and offers as a junction in a network of international contacts.

Ecology - Economically
Places and regions of the world each have their own conditions with respect to climate, resource availability, water and energy supply, waste composition, environmental guidelines, national economy, educational background and mentality. KNOTEN WEIMAR finds the appropriate methods for each one. Whereby sustainable solutions do not have to be expensive. We tap into funding possibilities for the concerned project constellation.
